3D Printing Reflection

I enjoyed the time we had to select and print our own 3D models! It was so much fun to watch the printer create something out of almost nothing. I created a C3PO head and it looks to cool. I now see how 3D printing can be used in more important ways and how it could benefit many people.

I like the article which provided research over 3D printing in education. it really is a trial an error process if one is new to the technology. In order to be able to help students learn about this new technology, teachers needed to be educated earlier on the topic. I think this is important not only in this research process, but also with any other topic being taught. Educators need to know what they are talking about before instructing others. This type of technology helped students with thinking and reasoning. It helped them understand their subject better and retain more knowledge. Several students even made their own designs instead of using templates, which is really awesome.

The use of 3D printing helps open doors to new ways of learning and teaching. Educators need to be open minded to these new tools for teaching. Most students would be happy to use this technology in their classroom. 3D printing is beneficial for physics, science and math classes. There is a lot to back up how great this technology is in the classroom. This type of printing has been changing the world in not only education, but also in the medical field as well. It is changing everything just as technology always has. I believe 3D printing is great in the classroom and could really help students learn more. It is also a great tool for teachers to helps broaden their curriculum with technology as well.

  1. Because the technology is so relatively new, the greatest impact may come via the introduction of 3D printing into public and private grade schools. The younger a person is, the easier it usually is to introduce new ideas and methodologies. This is why young children are so quick to learn new languages, when compared to their older adult counterparts. This is what makes elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools the perfect place to begin really introducing a curriculum based around 3D printing.
